Sidney Health Center is proud to announce Danielle Steinley, Occupational Therapist, as a recipient of the BEE Award, a recognition program created to honor the exceptional contributions of non-nursing healthcare team members. The BEE Award, which stands for “Be Exceptional Every Day,” celebrates allied health professionals whose dedication, compassion, and collaborative spirit strengthen the healing environment across all areas of the organization.
Eleven employees were nominated for the award, including Karen Bouchard, Josh Delaney, Marty Gaither, Makenzi Lustig, Gina Mata, Rachele McCullough, Nicole Mathews, Cheryl Olson, Danielle Steinley, Dr. Malua Tambi and Courage Wleh. Each nominee was recognized for consistently going above and beyond in their daily roles to support patients, residents, colleagues, and the community.
Danielle’s nomination highlighted a meaningful experience shared by a patient’s family, who described the extraordinary impact she has had while providing occupational therapy for their 3-year-old son. Over just a few months, they have seen remarkable progress that has improved both their child’s abilities and their daily family life. They shared that Danielle has a natural way with young children, remaining calm, smiling, and patient in every session. The family emphasized that she truly cares for her patients and is committed to helping them succeed. They also noted her dedication to the community as an assistant coach for the high school girls hockey team, where she gives significant personal time and energy to support and mentor student athletes. The family described Danielle as calm, kind, and compassionate, and an incredible role model for youth in the community.
Danielle joined Sidney Health Center in 2025 as an Occupational Therapist in the Rehabilitation Services Department. A Sidney native, Danielle’s interest in occupational therapy began early through her mother’s work as an OT/PT aide in the school system and was strengthened by her exposure to the impact therapy can have on students.
Prior to returning home, Danielle gained experience in senior living, Healthy Is Wellness, and through observation hours with Sidney Health Center’s rehabilitation team. She shared that coming back to Sidney was an easy decision, as she values the community that helped shape her.
In her current role, Danielle works in outpatient rehabilitation treating orthopedic and pediatric patients and in the Med/Surg unit providing inpatient rehabilitation. She finds her greatest reward in helping patients of all ages build independence and return to meaningful activities.
Danielle shared, “Receiving the BEE Award is deeply humbling and motivating. Personally, it is an honor to be recognized for something I care about. Professionally, it reinforces the importance of patient-centered care and motivates me to continue growing and providing the highest level of support to my patients and team.”
Just as bees are small but mighty and essential to a thriving ecosystem, Sidney Health Center’s allied health professionals play an indispensable role in the organization’s success and the well-being of those served. The BEE Award celebrates individuals who embody these qualities through their everyday actions.
Employees can be nominated by patients, families, or colleagues. At Sidney Health Center, BEE Award recipients are selected by a dedicated committee and honored in a special ceremony twice a year. Each honoree receives a certificate of recognition, a BEE Award pin, and a plaque.
