Sidney Health Center Extended Care Names Ruth Brosten Pederson Resident of the Year

Sidney Health Center Extended Care is proud to announce Ruth Brosten Pederson as the 2024 Resident of the Year.

Ruth was born in Sidney on January 25, 1929, and raised in the Clark community south of town with her two older sisters. After graduating from Sidney High School, she held various jobs, including working as a telephone operator and at Yellowstone Mercantile.

In 1953, Ruth married Halvard Pederson. Together, they lived east of Sidney and raised five children: Cheryl, John, Loretta, Marsha, and Kim. Known for her warm hospitality, Ruth often cared for neighborhood children and loved baking, cooking, and sewing Hardanger embroidery. She is an active member of Pella Lutheran Church, Sons of Norway, and the VFW Auxiliary.

After becoming a widow in 1987, Ruth moved back to town, where she continued working and spending time with her growing family. As a resident at Extended Care, she now enjoys visits from her large and loving family, including nine grandchildren and several great-grandchildren—always ready to share stories from the “good old days.”

Ruth’s caring spirit, positive attitude, and welcoming personality have made her a beloved part of the Extended Care community. She is well-deserving of this recognition.

At Sidney Health Center Extended Care, we believe there is more to aging than growing old. Through quality care, meaningful activities, and strong relationships, we help residents live life to the fullest.
